North East London Formulary & Pathways Group's Decision - opicapone for Parkinson's disease

February 2024 - The North East London Formulary & Pathways Group (NEL FPG) approved the use of opicapone for treatment of Parkinson's disease as part of NEL formulary harmonisation. This medicine should only be prescribed in primary care following recommendation by a specialist. Opicapone is recommended as an alternative catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) inhibitor for patients where use of entecapone is inappropriate, ineffective or not tolerated.

Fentanyl lozenges for sickle cell

April 2023 - The North East London Formulary & Pathways Group approved the use of lozenges for acute vaso-occlusive pain management, in sickle cell patients attending the Emergency Department or the Haematology Day Unit, who are on an oral pain regime.
