ACETYLCYSTEINE
Acetylcysteine 5% licensed product commercially available and on formulary; acetylcysteine 10% preserved (currently unavailable, June 14) and acetylcysteine 10% preservative free are unlicensed products and are restricted to corneal consultant only. Prescribe in-house not on FP10HP. Acetylcysteine 600mg effervescent tablets (sugar free) are the most cost-effective mucolytic and may aid compliance due to once daily dosing. Capsules, 200mg sachets and non-sugar effervescent free tablets are significantly more expensive. |
